How to repair chemically damaged hair.

Bleached your hair one too many times? Whether you’ve dyed your hair too frequently or have experienced damaged due to using styling tools repairing hair that has been chemically damaged can be a challenge. What many people don’t know is that hair damage is more than just split ends. In fact, over time the hair cuticles begin to lift exposing the innermost layers of the hair shaft which leaves your susceptible to more damage. Perhaps, the most obvious signs damage is breakage, extreme frizz and difficulty managing your hair. How can you restore your hair to a healthy condition?

Cutting the Damaged Hair

Most experts will recommend that you begin by cutting the damaged hair. In some cases, hair damage can be permanent because the cells in the hair shaft die which makes repairing impossible. Therefore, taking a pair of shears to some of the damaged hair and taking steps to prevent further damage is the best thing you do. Going from dry, brittle hair to smooth shiny locks will take some time.

Feed Your Hair Nutrients

Just like our bodies require vitamins and nutrients to remain in a healthy condition, so does the hair. Hair intensity can help! Consider investing in pills for stronger hair. Yes, hair supplements are much like a multivitamin  for the hair. They contain ingredients like biotin, zinc acid and vitamins all of which strengthens the hair follicles from the inside to the out.

Prevent Further Damage

Of course, taking measures to prevent further damage to your hair is essential. That means you’ll definitely need to stop bleaching and coloring your hair. Extending time between touch ups can aid in preventing you from agitating the hair follicles. Using hair products that have been formulated for colored hair can help prevent you from having to constantly touch up your hair.

You’ll also need to limit how much you use heated styling tools. Flat ironing and curling your hair on a regular basis will result in extensive heat damage.

Moisture Is Key

Any hair professional will tell you that moisture is important for healthy and shiny hair.Chemically damaged hair requires lots of moisture because hair coloring products and styling tools can completely strip the hair follicles rendering it dry and brittle. However, regularly hydrating your hair with hair growth oil and other essential natural oils will make your hair look and feel better. Since moisturizing is temporary be sure to use hydrating products daily. .

Regular Deep Conditioning

Deep conditioning is more intense than regular conditioning. Deep conditioners have a low molecular weight which allows it to penetrate all the layers in the hair cuticles and the cortex.  In addition, deep conditioning imparts lots of moisture and it improves elasticity. Damaged hair tends to snap and break especially when under tension. Depend conditioning also adds luster.

Are you ready for strong and lustrous locks? Developing a hair care routine can help you repair hair that has been damaged by chemicals. In time, you can expect for your hair to be back in it’s normal and healthy condition.
