5 Tips for Beating Frizz In the Summer Heat

Are you 10-0 when it comes to frizz in this summer heat? While some hair types are more prone to frizz, when it’s nearly a hundred degrees outside frizz can happen to the best of us.  Unfortunately, eliminating frizz in the humidity can be frustrating especially when you’ve tried nearly every recommended product by your hairstylist. 


What Causes Frizz?

The key to beating frizz understanding what it is that causes your hair to turn poofy. The humidity causes hydrogen bonds to form between water molecules and the proteins that are already in your hair which ultimately triggers frizziness. This is why straight hair will turn curly or curly locks will get even curlier. Beating summer frizz is possible. Check out these five tips for combatting it during the summer months. 


  1. Weekly Hot Oil Treatments

Moisture is key to beating frizz especially when you’re up against humidity. One of the best ways to ensure that your hair is rich in moisture is to do weekly hot oil treatments. If you have natural hair, hot oil treatments are a great way to infuse your tresses with the moisture it needs and eliminate frizz. 


  1. Avoid Blow Drying

Did you know that blow-drying makes your hair more frizzy? If you're prone to blow-drying your hair every morning it’s time to find an alternate styling solution. Unless you’re going for a bone straight look, try spraying a gentle leave-in conditioner in your hair and blow-dry it until it’s at least forty percent dry and allow it to air dry for the rest of the day.
